Tame the tongue

Le Marche, Italy, Oil - Lauren Radke
You may be challenged, especially during the holidays, but please keep the tongue tamed.
Freedom of speech is a blessing in our country, but it does not mean everything that pops into our heads necessitates releasing. You may think your comments cannot harm if not directed to the person at your side, but what if your comments concern a friend or family member of someone within earshot. Your gossip just hit the wrong ear.
This time of year, people seem to be in more of a hurry than usual. The pace picking up a couple weeks ago and I continually feel as if I will be run over, if not by a car, then by a shopping cart. My ankles are hurting in anticipation. Nasty looks and tongue lashings can be more difficult to bear during the holiday season so if you plan on striving for perfection this Christmas, focus on the treatment of others. We don't know everything friends and strangers are dealing with, and the harsh words and impatience could be the final crush.
We have control of our words and actions, so let's be remembered by our kindness and patience.
We will have some extra tasks this month - either shorten the list or start a bit earlier. Determine what is truly necessary as everyone you encounter will appreciate the kind interactions of those with a relaxed demeanor.
I welcome your thoughts or sharing of your own experiences. lauren
