Anticipation

Mespelbrunn castle sketch
Anticipation. Good thing, bad thing - just depends.
Knowing warm ocean breezes will brush your cheeks as your toes sink into the hot sand with sunrays warming the rest of you means good experiences are coming your way. Knowing you are meeting up with someone who always makes snide remarks or "tsks" everything you say leads to frustration and dread.
How anticipation intertwines with expectations profoundly impacts whether we look forward to something or not. The bar can only be lowered so far so that even a flattened-out slug cannot fit under the lowest limbo bar. At age twenty, I was flexible enough to attempt a limbo bar and now, I would not even try. Timidity in my younger years with situations has been replaced by boundaries. I accept each situation for what it is asking for healing prayers for all situations where we need to choose.
Life is too short and precious to deal with people with whom the bar needs constant lowering. Let your kids know this and your grandkids. I learned too late to teach my children this lesson. For that I am sorry, though I don't feel bad leaving the meanies behind and only dealing with them when absolutely required. The armor is on when I do. Walk in like you belong says like Misty Copeland. Maybe the tides will turn.
I welcome your thoughts or sharing of your own experiences. lauren
