A Cinderella Story

|
Look anywhere and everywhere and we can find bad people. Look anywhere and everywhere and we can find good people. While traveling to multiple states over the years, we laugh because we are always finding Detroit or Michigan on the news, and not depicted in a good light. Corrupt government, corrupt mayor, kidnappers, you name it, have all popped up on national news. It seems we are always defending when asked where we are from. Everyone from Detroit is not bad. Everything south of 8 mile is not bad. While more than 800 miles from home this week, we see Detroit on the national news multiple times - this time elevated on a pedestal. Strangers on the street see Jeff's blue Lions pullover and yell "Congrats", "I'm rooting for you!", "We're gonna do it!" At our house, we are underdog supporters and this week the Lions team whose bandwagon we have never left is becoming a Cinderella story. My favorite Disney cartoon of all time, I love every version of Cinderella. Magical sparkles are falling on the Lions and their fans and hope is alive - what everyone needs. Coming so close to a Superbowl is good for us to tip the scales of bad vs. good coming from Detroit.
Detroit has been a black sheep for many years according to some, a difficult rap to escape. The same is true for people. Let's not forget that those who have made multiples mistakes in the past can also change. Let them shine when they deserve it instead of continually beating them down. Everyone deserves a Cinderella story.
