Moods of Fort Moultrie - originally sent 8.28.20

Beginning in April 2020, I began sending weekly texts to friends and family during the initial Covid lockdown. I was glad to have a purpose on Fridays of sending the painting and its story. This was originally sent August 28th.
The moody clouds beckon me to explore knowing it will be a quiet day on the beach. Never a busy beach, I enjoy the solace of getting lost in my search not interrupted by hellos. The high tide means we need an alternate path to the beach. A necessary change, but not a problem. Funny how each time I arrive the landscape looks different. The power of wind and water is amazing. I embrace the newness while remembering past views, knowing with change comes improvement. My memories are fresh of past trips though… how I spotted and fell in love with my first sandpipers, laughing at their comical to and fro with the waves looking as though mom just scolded them about not getting their feet wet. With eyes glued to the sand, a pop of yellow, the shade of my kitchen walls appears, a piece of seaweed…how is this possible…it is meant for me, though Jeff’s excitement is non-existent…Or my little chunk of seaweed covered in tiny whelk shells and I feel as if I have struck gold. Again, the excitement is mine alone…The washed up puffer fish I wanted to take home and preserve - bad idea, but that’s another story. It is doubtful anyone will keep these items when I am gone, but I enjoy them regularly knowing someday they will be trashed. Change will bring a new owner to my china cabinet - possibly the town dump. A new family will live in our home someday, and existing neighbors will be pleased they knew us, but happily welcome the new ones. And the change will be good for everyone.
I welcome your thoughts or sharing of your own experiences. lauren
